Harmeet and Sarvjit met later in life but enjoyed what Harmeet describes as the best 16 years of their lives. She cherishes the happy moments they shared and remembers Sarvjit for his courage, good humor, and dignity, especially during his final days. “I want to remember him in all those happy moments as well as his courage, good humor, and dignity at the end,” she shared.
Compassionate Care in His Final Days
The medical team at CPMC Van Ness, where Sarvjit was hospitalized three times in the last two months, provided compassionate and thoughtful care. Harmeet expressed her deep appreciation for their kindness. In a poignant moment, the doctors and nurses gave Harmeet Sarvjit's wedding ring in the emergency room when it became clear that he would not recover to give her a final kiss and hear her say, “I love you.”
