Glendale, AZ — During Friday's Trump-Vance 2024 Campaign rally in Glendale, Arizona, Mayor Jerry Weiers delivered a passionate speech, warning voters about the economic dangers of a Harris-Walz presidency and highlighting his record as a conservative leader. Weiers, a staunch Republican, used the platform to emphasize the importance of maintaining conservative values and principles in the face of what he described as the damaging policies of the Harris-Biden Administration.
Mayor Weiers opened his speech by proudly welcoming attendees to Glendale, noting its rapid growth and success under conservative leadership. "We’re one of the fastest-growing communities in the nation," Weiers stated, attributing Glendale's progress to the city’s embrace of Republican principles, including business-friendly policies, thoughtful planning, and limited regulation. He emphasized the importance of fiscal responsibility, stating, "We spend tax dollars like they were our own hard-earned dollars."
Weiers addressed common criticisms of Republicans, particularly the notion that they lack compassion. He recounted a personal anecdote about his own heart surgery to counter this narrative, humorously noting that he had forgotten to ask his surgeon to take a picture of his heart to prove to his Democrat counterparts that Republicans do, in fact, have hearts.
As the mayor of Glendale, Weiers stressed that his top priority, and that of other Republican mayors, is ensuring a high quality of life for their citizens. He argued that the Harris-Biden Administration's policies have had devastating effects on Arizona, particularly highlighting the fentanyl epidemic that has claimed hundreds of lives in Glendale and thousands across the state. "The last four years of the Harris-Biden Administration has seen Arizona flooded by a fentanyl epidemic that has killed hundreds of Glendale residents," Weiers warned, attributing the crisis to liberal policies that have strained the economy and exacerbated homelessness.
Weiers also criticized the Harris-Biden Administration's handling of immigration, citing the provision of benefits to illegal immigrants while veterans struggle to receive the help they need. "Illegal aliens are getting free flights, free hotel rooms, cell phones, gift cards, and more—all paid for by you, the American public," Weiers stated, urging voters to consider the long-term consequences of another four years under Harris and Biden.
Quoting John F. Kennedy, Weiers called on voters to take responsibility for the future and join the grassroots effort to re-elect Donald Trump. "Let us accept our responsibility for the future," Weiers urged, encouraging everyone to do their part in sending Trump back to the White House.
Weiers concluded his speech by recognizing the Glendale police officers who were ensuring the safety of the event, as well as the broader community. "They’re making certain that democracy prevails and every voice is heard," he said, expressing pride in his role as mayor and his commitment to Republican values. The speech ended with a chant of "Trump, Trump, Trump," as Weiers rallied the crowd in support of the former president.
The rally in Glendale was a significant moment in the Trump-Vance 2024 campaign, with Weiers' speech underscoring the stakes of the upcoming election and the urgency of maintaining conservative leadership in Arizona and beyond.
