Trump Boat Parade at Smith Mountain Lake in Virginia |
A Flotilla Celebrating Freedom and Trump Set for Saturday at Smith Mountain Lake (SML)
A flotilla of hundreds of boats celebrating freedom — and the campaign of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump — will be floating along Smith Mountain Lake this Saturday. Organizers are inviting anyone with a boat to come out and join in.
The American Freedom Flotilla is being organized by lake residents Bo Blair and Jim McKelvey along with Virginians for Trump 2024. This will be the third time the event has been held at the lake following two held in 2020. The events have coincided with upcoming presidential elections, with the two held in 2020 including a large number of supporters for Donald Trump carrying a variety of flags and signs supporting the former president.
While Blair expects a large number of Trump paraphernalia, he said anyone is welcome to join in supporting any other candidate. He said the flotilla is to celebrate freedom and he only asks people to bring American flags. Those who join can show their support for any candidate they want. The flotilla is set to depart near Halesford Bridge on the Roanoke River arm of the lake and at Gills Creek Marina on the Blackwater River arm at 11 a.m. Saturday. Blair said the boats will parade along the lake at a slow and safe speed before reaching Smith Mountain Dam.
