US House Representative Lauren Boebert, a politician from Colorado, recently made a statement in which she accused climate activists of "forcing us all to bow at the left's altar of climate change." In her statement, she expressed her opposition to the policies of politicians that she believes have contributed to the decline of many communities, particularly in regard to the energy industry.
Boebert believes that leftist policies, such as the regulations imposed on the oil and gas industry, have caused harm to communities and driven away good-paying jobs. She also criticized the current administration's actions, such as the cancellation of oil and gas leases in Alaska and the Gulf of Mexico, as well as the imposition of a moratorium on new federal oil and gas leases, which she believes have contributed to increased gas prices and inflation.
Boebert suggested that instead of relying on other countries for energy production, the US should be producing it domestically, as she believes that Americans can do it better and cleaner. She also raised concerns about the current backlog of almost 5,000 APD (Authorization for Prospecting and Development) permits and asked what Congress could do to reduce the backlog and ensure that agencies focus on reducing the backlog rather than haggling over paperwork exercises.
During the statement, Boebert also spoke with a witness, Miss Sagama, who discussed the increased bureaucracy surrounding lease suspensions and permit extensions. Sagama explained that the BLM (Bureau of Land Management) could quickly address the recent decision by the 10th Circuit to suspend all APDs by explaining the NEPA (National Environmental Policy Act) deficiency found by the judge. Sagama also spoke about the 9000 unused lease permits and leases and the reasons why they cannot simply be used, such as economic resources not being found on a particular lease or court cases holding up permits.
In conclusion, Representative Boebert's statement reflects her strong opposition to the policies and actions of the current administration and climate activists and her belief in the importance of producing energy domestically.
