We are seeing a response from former President Donald Trump, the Trump organization, and his allies after a civil suit by the NY AG.

Let me read you more of the statement from the Trump organization. In addition to everything that you just laid out, it's notable that the statement talks about the crime rates in New York, saying, "All of this is happening while New York continues to decline with rising violent crime rates, which we have not seen in decades. Their team said, "It's all about politics, pure and simple. The good people of New York should be disgusted.

I want to read a little bit of what we got from a Trump spokesperson who sends this on behalf of one of his attorneys, who writes,

Today's filing is neither focused on the facts nor the law. It's on advancing the attorney general's political agenda. It's abundantly clear the attorney general's office has exceeded its statutory authority by prying into transactions where absolutely no wrongdoing has taken place.

We are confident our judicial system will not stand for this unchecked abuse of authority and we look forward to defending our client against each and every one of the attorney general's meritless claims. So, I'm gearing up for a fight. Taking a step back, this is one of several investigations swirling around the former president.

And that is unprecedented. There's an investigation in Georgia into allegations of election fraud. Of course, the January 6 committee Then you have the justice department and, of course, the FBI seized all those documents from Mar-a-Lago and that's going back and forth that the department of justice has said, some of which are classified, hundreds of them.

So, all of this is swirling around today's announcement. What we are hearing, not surprisingly, from the former president, who called himself a counterpuncher, is this defiant stance. Well, Trump is holding a "Save America" rally this Friday in Wilmington, NC, so it's interesting to see what he will say in his next speech.
