समाजवादी पार्टी के राष्ट्रीय अध्यक्ष श्री अखिलेश यादव से अखाड़ा परिषद के अध्यक्ष महंत श्री नरेन्द्र गिरी जी महाराज ने भेंट कर इलाहाबाद में होने वाले अर्ध कुम्भ मेले में आमंत्रित किया।
श्री नरेन्द्र गिरी ने कहा कि समाजवादी सरकार में 2013 में कुम्भ अपनी भव्यता को लेकर पूरी दुनिया में चर्चित रहा। जिसके बाद कुम्भ की व्यवस्थाओं को समझने के लिये विदेशी अधिकारी आये थे। और कुम्भ मैनेजमेन्ट की बारीकियों को जाना था।
समाजवादी पार्टी के राष्ट्रीय अध्यक्ष श्री अखिलेश यादव ने मांग किया है कि इलाहाबाद में संगम किनारे स्थित किला उत्तर प्रदेश पर्यटन विभाग को मिलना चाहिए जिससे अक्षयवट का हमेशा जनता दर्शन कर सके।

समाजवादी पार्टी के राष्ट्रीय सचिव एवं मुख्य प्रवक्ता श्री राजेन्द्र चैधरी ने कहा है कि पूर्वर्ती समाजवादी सरकार के मुख्यमंत्री रहे श्री अखिलेश यादव के कार्यकाल वर्ष 2013 में प्रयाग, इलाहाबाद में विशालतम जन समागम कुम्भ मेला सम्पन्न हुआ था। जिसमें दुनिया भर के सैकड़ों विद्धान और प्रबंधन के शोध छात्रों सहित करोड़ों श्रद्धालुओं की उपस्थिति रही।
श्री चौधरी ने कहा कि करोड़ो की भीड़ का लगातार एक स्थान पर एकत्रीकरण और उसकी सुख सुविधा का व्यापाक विस्तार, प्रशासन की सुचारू व्यवस्था, कानून व्यवस्था का प्रबंधन होना तत्कालीन समाजवादी सरकार के मुख्यमंत्री श्री अखिलेश यादव के दूरदर्शी सोच और कुशल नेतृत्व का उदाहरण था।

श्री चौधरी ने कहा कि 2013 के कुम्भ का महापर्व 14 जनवरी मकर संक्रांति पर्व से 22 मार्च 2013 तक शांतिपूर्ण ढंग से उत्तर प्रदेश में सम्पन्न हुआ। इसके सफल आयोजन के उपरांत हार्वर्ड यूनिवर्सिटी के साउथ एशिया इंस्टीट्यूट ने 447 पृष्ठों की एक बृहत पुस्तक निकाली थी जिसका विमोचन 17 अगस्त 2015 को नई दिल्ली के ओबेराय में तत्कालीन मुख्यमंत्री श्री अखिलेश यादव ने किया था। उक्त पुस्तक में मेला के प्रारम्भ की तैयारियों से लेकर इसके समापन तक का विवरण संकलित है। उक्त पुस्तक की तैयारी में हार्वर्ड यूनिवर्सिटी के 50 प्रोफेसर प्रशासकीय स्टाफ, डाक्टरों, शोधार्थियों ने कुम्भ मेला क्षेत्र में रहकर स्वतः घटनाओं का संज्ञान लिया था।
श्री राजेन्द्र चौधरी ने कहा कि विश्व के अनेक बुद्धिजीवियों ने 2013 के कुम्भ महापर्व के सराहनीय प्रबंधन के लिये श्री अखिलेश यादव को श्रेय दिया था। उनके निर्देशन में कुंभ की तैयारियों को समयबद्ध चरणों में पूरा किया गया था। श्री अखिलेश यादव ने समय-समय पर स्वयं महाकुम्भ आयोजन की तैयारियों की समीक्षा की और कार्यस्थल का निरीक्षण भी किया था। उनके इसी योगदान के कारण हार्वर्ड यूनिवर्सिटी की इस पुस्तक के विमोचन के लिये श्री यादव के चुना था।
